INTRODUCTION TO HINDUISM
Hinduism is amongst the most subscribed-to religions in Singapore, following the ethnic demographics that are present, with Chinese, Eurasian, Malay and Indian making up the main ethnic groups. True as with other religions, not all Indians are Hindus but the majority of them regard themselves as Hindus. The Hindu population stands at a staggering 900 million worldwide, making it the third largest religion following Christianity and Islam.

Hinduism is regarded as the oldest religion in the world and unlike other religions, Hinduism is believed to have no human founders, having not been originated from a single prophet or at a particular period in human history. The underlying belief in Hinduism is Pantheism, which refers to a doctrine which identifies all things are one and all part of God and there is no genuine absolute truth or individual claims to exclusivity. Followers of Hinduism believe of the existence of only one God but are allowed to exercise the freedom to worship different forms of God. They believe that the supreme God takes diverse forms in The Trinity, which is made up of “Brahma” the Creator, “Vishnu” the Preserver and “Shiva” the Destroyer.
